Scott Lee is a folk singer and songwriter originally from Dayton, Ohio. He has spent much of his life studying Americana and traditional music, which he grew up loving. His influences include pioneers like Jimmie Rodgers, Woody Guthrie, and Hank Williams, as well as honky-tonk legend Ernest Tubb, poetic songwriter Townes Van Zandt, and blues great Lightnin' Hopkins. Scott's mission with his music and writing is to add his own style and perspective to the folk music tradition.

Scott grew up in a musical family, surrounded by relatives who played instruments or sang. His grandfather, Glenn Patrick, was a bluegrass singer and guitar picker who performed at festivals and venues throughout central Ohio in the 1970s with his band, Bluegrass Heritage. Some of Scott’s earliest memories are of his mother playing Camptown Races, The Entertainer, and other folk songs on the piano.

Scott picked up the guitar at 14, and not long after, he discovered the music of Bob Dylan. From that moment on, he was hooked on words and the craft of songwriting. Over the past 20 years, he has studied and performed hundreds of folk songs, penned three full-length albums, and recorded an upcoming EP with his band, The Wanderers. He has also written many other songs that have yet to be released.

He currently resides in Westerville, Ohio, with his loving wife, Emily, and their three kitties. Scott plans to keep picking, singing, and writing until his fingers fall off and his voice gives out—because that's the only folking way to do it!

The Wanderers

In the summer of 2023, Scott Lee set out to record his album, Junk Drawer Dimes. With the help of producer Jesse Henry, he assembled a supergroup of musicians from Columbus, Dayton, and beyond—giving rise to The Wanderers.

First aboard was drummer (and brother-in-law) Stephen Snyder (formerly of In Service of Serpents). Steve effortlessly transitioned from metal and rock to the train beats and waltzes of classic country. It didn’t take long for him to sound like a true veteran of country rhythm—where less is more, and wide-open space is king. His drumming is the heart and soul of The Wanderers sound, guaranteed to get you moving and scooting with his badass beats.

Next up was veteran Columbus bassist Billy Zehnal (formerly of Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons). Whether on electric or upright bass, Billy is always locked in the groove, leading the band's rhythm with ease. The best way to describe ol’ "Billy Bass" is creatively distracted—it’s his wandering style that inspired the band’s name and has even sparked a few new songs from Scott.

Last but certainly not least is guitar maestro Trevor Edge (formerly of Erika Hughes and the Well Mannered). Trevor’s wife, Margo, sang on two tracks for Junk Drawer Dimes, and at the release party, he and Scott connected about joining the newly forming band. Trevor’s beautifully crafted riffs and fills bring The Wanderers to life, giving them that true honky-tonk sound. Plenty of folks can noodle around on a guitar, but Trevor writes each part to masterfully fit the song, his Telecaster prancing and dancing with amazing tone.

These three musicians bring Scott’s words and melodies to life, turning them into something people can dance to, sing along with, and get a little rowdy over. So, wander on over to the shows page and see if we’ll be bringing our honky-tonk sound to a place near you. We’d love to see y’all out there—Wander on my friends!
